Mahi’s only source of happiness was love, her insane, all pervasive, all consuming love for the reigning superstar who hadn’t quite committed to her. Prone to intense mood swings, in fact secretly bipolar, insecure, unsure and very lonely. After all uneasy lays the head that wears a crown. Unfortunately, Mahi’s inner world was in direct contrast to her outer life. It is said that paradox exists in the darkness behind the spotlight. This is what the world would have you believe about her. She was beautiful, famous, successful and very-very rich and of course still young. Not only was she on top of her game, she was also single, fancy free and footloose. The spotlight followed her, the camera loved her, the paparazzi couldn’t get enough of her… Mahi Arora was a ‘Superstar’… in every sense of the word! Though news about Kareena Kapoor replacing Aishwarya Rai is going around, UTV has categorically denied and clarified that no casting has been finalised for Heroine. The shooting of the film is currently postponed due to Rai’s pregnancy. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was cast to play the lead role of Mahi Khanna. Though speculated to be based on the lives of yester year divas like Madhubala and Marilyn Monroe, Bhandarkar has denied the reports saying that the movie is a “contemporary film which reveals the underbelly of the movie industry and its well-kept secrets.” Bhandarkar said that he considers the movie his magnum opus. The film revolves around the life of a once successful film actress Mahi Khanna, whose career is on the decline. Heroine is a bollywood movie starring Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda written and directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
